The second signature model and next generation shape of Otis Carey’s, the ‘MERMAID KILLER’. As you may have realized, Otis has an insatiable appetite for co-designing unreal, unbeatable and unapologetic sleds. This board is all about heightened speed and responsiveness allowing for progressive modern surfing through an ultra short and refined shape.
Foam is redistributed through a parallel outline and unique curves allowing for a reduction in boards physical size compared to conventional shortboard design. The board has a low nose rocker for paddle power but single concave through the entry giving the nose lift from the initial paddle in and take-off. A slight concave then carries through to the tail, which has a single curved channel coupled with a dome swallow for increased control, speed and release. The reduced length and straighter outline then allow for an elevated surfing experience and the ability to be positioned anywhere on the wave. If you’re still reading this, would a mermaid have a fish head and human legs? Or would it be the other way around?
