An Open Letter to our friends.

First up, thank you.

Whether you’ve been with us since the early days or just found your way here, we appreciate you.

It’s been a while since we had anything to say on the apparel side. Over the past year, we stepped back. Not by choice, entirely, but because we hit a run of tough breaks. Like a lot of businesses, the last few years have forced change. For us, that meant parting ways with our long-time apparel production partner and closing down our retail stores. Big shifts. They hit hard, and they hit the core brand.

So we paused. Took stock. Asked ourselves the real questions.

What are we doing here? What do we care about? What do you care about? Where we landed...

M/SF/T Apparel is back. Quietly confident. Locally made. Landing mid-August.

We’ve re-centred the brand. Kept it lean. Every piece in our 'Works from Aus' drops are designed by us and made here, sourced and printed in Sydney with our friends (and family) at Sweeney Bros.

We’re not chasing trends or timelines. No seasonal collections. Just smaller, tighter drops, new stuff each month when it feels right. Not just because we can, but because we should. If the old model was about feeding the machine, this one isn’t. This is about keeping it close to home. Listening more. Making less, but making better.

The first drops start with what feels most like us, art-led gear, grounded in graphic work. That’s always been the pulse. Over time, we’ll expand categories. But only as we find the right people and pace.

What to expect from here:

- 100% M/SF/T design, decisions, and direction

- Locally made gear from Australian-owned businesses

- Small runs, limited numbers

- Higher quality. Lower footprint

- Faster restocks of the pieces that resonate

For now, everything will be available exclusively at misfitshapes.com. Down the track, we’ll look to partner with a few select retailers again, here and overseas.

We’re proud to back local manufacturing. It keeps skills, creativity, and dollars here and your support helps make that possible.

That said, not everything can be made onshore yet. We’re still working on options, boardshorts being one of them. But when we do go offshore, it’ll only be with people who do things right.

You might notice a small bump in price, usually $5 to $10 more than before. That’s the cost of making things locally and doing it right. We’ve kept it tight, without cutting corners.

Feels a bit like starting again. The garage energy. Hands on. Heads down. Building something real. We’re into it. And we’re stoked you’re still here with us.
